Available Shapes and Custom Processing

Not every printing project uses the same shape. Besides standard rectangular aluminum sublimation sheets, Worthwill also supplies rounded corner blanks, round sublimation aluminum blanks and sheets with pre-drilled holes. These products use the same sublimation coating system, while the shape, edge processing, diameter and hole position can be customized according to the final application.

Standard Rectangle and Square Aluminum Sublimation Sheets

Rectangle and square aluminum sublimation sheets are widely used for photo panels, wall signs, display boards, nameplates, certificates and decorative prints. Standard sizes such as A4, A3, A2, 200×300 mm, 300×400 mm, 600×300 mm, 600×400 mm and 1200×600 mm are available. Custom cutting can also be arranged for bulk orders.

Rounded Corner Aluminum Sublimation Sheets

Rounded corner aluminum sublimation sheets are designed for projects that require a smoother edge and a more finished appearance. The radius corners help reduce sharp edges and make the panels easier to handle, pack and install.

They are commonly used for photo panels, nameplates, wall decor, small signs, desk plates, display boards and personalized gifts. Corner radius, size, thickness and surface finish can be customized according to customer drawings, samples or purchasing requirements.

Round Aluminum Sublimation Blanks

Round aluminum sublimation blanks are suitable for circular photo products, coasters, clocks, awards, ornaments, round signs and decorative panels. The circular shape gives the finished product a clean and eye-catching appearance.

Worthwill can supply different diameters, thicknesses and surface finishes according to order requirements. Smooth edges and protective film are available to help reduce scratches before printing. Custom diameter production is available for bulk orders.

Round Sublimation Aluminum Sheets With Holes

For hanging signs, wall decor, ornaments, tags and installation panels, round sublimation aluminum sheets can also be produced with pre-drilled holes. Hole diameter, hole quantity, edge distance and hole position can be customized according to drawings or samples.

Pre-drilled holes help reduce additional processing after printing and make installation easier for the end user. Besides round blanks, holes can also be added to square, rectangular and rounded corner aluminum sublimation sheets.

How to Sublimate on Aluminum Sheets

Successful aluminum sublimation depends on the correct combination of artwork preparation, coating identification, heat, pressure and pressing time. The following settings are recommended starting points only. Always confirm the instructions supplied with the aluminum coating, sublimation ink, transfer paper and heat press, and complete a sample test before mass production.

Step 1: Prepare the Artwork and Print the Transfer

Create the design at the final output size using clear, high-resolution artwork. Use the color profile or print preset recommended for your sublimation printer, ink and transfer paper. Mirror the image before printing because the printed side of the transfer paper will be placed face-down against the coated aluminum surface.

Print the design with a dedicated sublimation inkjet printer and compatible sublimation transfer paper. Allow the printed transfer to dry completely before handling or pressing.

Step 2: Prepare and Check the Heat Press

Use a flat heat press with a clean, level and evenly heated platen. Confirm that the displayed temperature matches the actual platen temperature whenever possible.

Place a fresh sheet of protective or blowout paper on the lower platen. As a general starting point for coated aluminum blanks, use approximately 190–205°C with medium to firm, even pressure. Small blanks commonly require about 45–90 seconds, while larger photo panels may require approximately 90–120 seconds. The correct setting depends on the coating, sheet thickness, panel size and heat press performance.

Step 3: Prepare the Aluminum Sheet

Confirm which side of the aluminum sheet has the sublimation coating. Remove the protective film completely before pressing.

Clean the coated surface with a soft, lint-free cloth and remove dust, fingerprints or particles. Use only a cleaner that is compatible with the coating, and make sure the surface is completely dry before applying the transfer.

Step 4: Align and Secure the Transfer

Place the printed transfer paper on a clean, flat surface with the printed image facing up. Position the coated side of the aluminum sheet face-down onto the printed image.

Check the alignment carefully and secure the paper with heat-resistant tape to prevent movement and ghosting. Avoid placing unnecessary tape across the main printed area.

Step 5: Heat Press the Aluminum Sheet

Place the assembled sheet in the center of the heat press. Use the following pressing arrangement:

  • Protective paper on the lower platen

  • Aluminum sheet with the coated side facing up

  • Printed transfer facing down against the coating

  • Protective paper on top

Close the press and apply even pressure for the tested time and temperature. Do not use excessive heat or extend the pressing time without testing, because over-pressing may cause dull colors, coating damage, image blur or panel deformation.

Step 6: Remove, Cool and Inspect

When the pressing cycle is complete, open the press and remove the aluminum sheet carefully while wearing heat-resistant gloves. Remove the transfer paper promptly and smoothly unless the transfer-paper supplier recommends a different peeling method.

Place the printed panel on a clean, flat, heat-resistant surface and allow it to cool naturally. Inspect the image for color accuracy, sharpness, complete edge transfer, ghosting, surface marks and flatness.

Before starting bulk production, record the confirmed temperature, time, pressure, panel size, thickness, coating finish, transfer paper and print settings. Use the approved sample as the quality standard for the full production batch.

Recommended Starting Parameters

Aluminum Product Temperature Starting Time Pressure
Small aluminum blanks and tags 190–200°C 45–60 seconds Medium and even
Medium signs and panels 195–205°C 60–90 seconds Medium to firm
Larger aluminum photo panels About 195°C 90–120 seconds Firm and even

Important: These values are starting references rather than universal specifications. Always carry out a test press and adjust the settings according to the coating, blank size, thickness, heat press and desired image result.
