5754 mill finish aluminum is a non-heat-treatable 5xxx-series aluminum-magnesium alloy containing 2.6–3.6% magnesium. It combines good corrosion resistance, weldability and formability with greater strength than many general-purpose aluminum sheet grades in comparable conditions. Its natural rolled surface is supplied without paint or anodizing.
Henan Worthwill Industry Co., Ltd. supplies 5754 aluminum sheet, coil and plate for transportation components, marine-related fabrication, industrial equipment and formed sheet-metal parts. Commonly requested tempers include O, H111, H22 and H24; other conditions are reviewed against the ordered standard, product form and production availability.
Buyers can request custom widths, cut-to-length sheets, coil slitting, edge protection and export packing. Please specify the alloy standard, temper, thickness, width, sheet length or coil requirements, quantity, application and inspection needs for an accurate quotation.
5754 aluminum is often chosen when ordinary sheet metal needs better resistance to humid, salty or industrial environments without sacrificing practical forming and welding performance. It belongs to the Al-Mg alloy family and is identified as AA 5754, EN AW-5754 or AlMg3, depending on the specification system.
Worthwill supplies 5754 mill finish aluminum for fabricators, distributors and OEM projects. The correct temper, dimensions and inspection requirements matter just as much as the alloy number, especially for welded parts and materials used outdoors.
The primary alloying addition in 5754 is magnesium at 2.6–3.6% by weight. The alloy is not precipitation-hardened like 6061-T6. Its strength and ductility depend on the supplied temper, thickness and rolling process.
Mill finish means the original rolled aluminum surface: no paint, decorative anodizing or mirror polishing. Light rolling lines and small variations in shade can occur. For exposed decorative surfaces, define the appearance criteria and any protective film before ordering.
Sheet and coil are useful for cutting, bending, stamping and continuous production. Thicker plate may be preferred for welded equipment and heavy-duty fabricated components. Not every thickness or temper is available in every product form.
| Product Form | Supply Description | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 5754 Aluminum Sheet | Standard or custom cut-to-length flat sheet | Vehicle panels, equipment covers, formed parts |
| 5754 Aluminum Coil / Strip | Full-width or slit coil, subject to rolling and slitting limits | Roll forming, sheet-metal production, industrial components |
| 5754 Aluminum Plate | Thicker flat-rolled product supplied to order | Welded equipment, access panels and fabricated industrial parts |
Temper choice changes the balance between ductility and strength. For a part with tight bends, a softer condition is usually easier to form; for a flatter panel requiring more stiffness, a stronger temper may be appropriate.
| Temper | General Characteristics | Selection Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| O / H111 | Soft or lightly strain-hardened condition with good ductility | Bending, welded assemblies and parts with more demanding forming |
| H22 | Strain-hardened and partially annealed quarter-hard temper | Vehicle body panels and general fabrication with balanced strength and formability |
| H24 | Strain-hardened and partially annealed half-hard temper | Panels and fabricated components where extra stiffness is useful |
H32, H34, H112 and other conditions can be reviewed when called for by the applicable standard and the intended product. Temper names are not interchangeable, and a specification for 5083-H116 or 5083-H321 must not be applied to 5754 automatically.
Corrosion resistance: 5754 performs well in many wet, coastal and industrial atmospheres. Material suitability still depends on service temperature, seawater exposure, joint design and maintenance; the alloy name alone does not certify a finished marine structure.
Weldability: 5754 is suitable for common MIG and TIG fabrication when the filler, welding procedure and end-use requirements are correctly selected. The heat-affected zone may have lower strength than the original strain-hardened sheet.
Formability and strength: 5754 can be bent and formed in suitable tempers and gives useful strength for transportation and industrial sheet-metal parts. Springback and minimum bend radius depend on thickness, rolling direction, tooling and temper.
Practical surface options: the mill finish can be used as an industrial surface or further prepared for coating, brushing or other finishing. Decorative anodizing results should be assessed on samples rather than assumed from the alloy designation.
5754 aluminum sheet is used for boat fittings, noncritical panels, enclosures and equipment exposed to humid or salt-laden air. For primary hull structures, classification-controlled projects or demanding seawater service, review the applicable marine specification and consider alloys such as 5083 aluminum plate where required by the design.
5754 sheet and coil are used in vehicle body panels, floor sections, covers and formed transportation parts. H111 or H22 may be considered according to forming depth, required stiffness and the final joining process. Automotive qualification must follow the buyer's drawings and material standard.
Typical applications include machine guards, equipment housings, access panels, tanks in compatible service environments and welded industrial assemblies. For chemical or food-contact use, confirm compatibility and regulatory requirements rather than relying on alloy composition alone.
5754 is also used as a base alloy for tread or checkered plate when a durable, corrosion-resistant walking surface is needed. A patterned product has its own thickness and dimensional requirements; see Worthwill's aluminum checkered plate range.
These 5xxx-series grades are often compared, but the correct decision depends on the specified temper, thickness, forming requirements and operating conditions.
| Alloy | Main Character | Better Starting Point When |
|---|---|---|
| 5754 | Good corrosion resistance, weldability and forming performance | Transport parts, marine-related equipment and welded sheet-metal fabrication |
| 5052 | Widely used formable aluminum-magnesium sheet | Tanks, enclosures and formed components needing general corrosion resistance |
| 5083 | Higher-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy used in marine plate | Heavier-duty marine structures or welded plate applications with specific standards |
| 5005 | Lower-magnesium alloy valued for decorative anodizing | Signs, architectural sheet and decorative components |
Neither 5754 nor 5052 is always stronger in every temper. Compare the mechanical requirements of the actual product, not alloy numbers alone. You can also browse Worthwill's mill finish aluminum range.
Before production, confirm the required material standard, alloy and temper, dimensional tolerances, surface expectations and test documents. Chemical composition and tensile-property results are checked against the agreed specification; additional third-party inspection can be discussed for project orders.
Aluminum sheet and plate may be protected with interleaving, wrapping, edge guards and reinforced pallets. Coils require suitable inner-diameter and weight limits, moisture-resistant wrapping and secure strapping. Protective film is optional when the surface and processing route permit it.
Worthwill's general minimum order quantity for 5754 mill finish aluminum is 3 metric tons. The standard dispatch arrangement is within 30 days after receipt of the final balance payment, subject to the confirmed order. Prices are quoted according to alloy, temper, dimensions, processing, quantity, current aluminum market conditions and delivery terms.
Is 5754 aluminum suitable for marine use? Yes, for many marine-related and coastal components. Critical structures and prolonged seawater exposure require project-specific alloy, temper and inspection review; 5754 is not a direct substitute for specified 5083 marine plate.
What is the difference between 5754-H111 and 5754-H22? H111 is softer and generally easier to form. H22 has higher minimum strength and lower ductility in comparable EN 485-2 sheet thicknesses.
Can 5754 aluminum be welded? Yes. With a qualified procedure and suitable filler, it can be welded using common aluminum processes. Welded-joint strength must be considered separately from base-metal strength.
Is 5754 the same as 5052? No. Their magnesium ranges and mechanical requirements differ. They may serve similar applications, but substitution must be approved against the drawing and material standard.
Can you supply 5754 sheet and coil to custom dimensions? Cut-to-length, slitting and other processing can be reviewed against the required temper, size and quantity; the available range is confirmed for each order.
