PE Coated Aluminum Sheet

PE Coated Aluminum Strip and Slit Coil

For standard PE systems, the combined front coating is commonly around 20–25 μm. Worthwill can also discuss coating structures within an approximate 16–35 μm range when required by the product, forming operation or approved technical specification. The primer, topcoat and back-coat requirements should be confirmed separately rather than relying only on a total film-thickness figure.

 

Colors can be selected from RAL references or matched to an approved physical sample. Matte, low-gloss, medium-gloss, high-gloss and selected metallic finishes are available subject to paint formulation and order quantity.

 

Recommended Aluminum Alloys

 

1050, 1060 and 1100: These alloys offer good formability and economical processing. They are commonly selected for signs, ceiling components, decorative panels, lighting parts, trims and products requiring relatively easy forming.

 

3003: This alloy provides a useful balance of formability, corrosion resistance and strength for ceiling panels, wall panels, roofing components, equipment covers and general building products.

 

3004, 3005 and 3105: These grades provide higher strength than common 1000-series alloys while retaining suitable roll-forming performance. Typical uses include gutters, downpipes, shutters, roofing profiles, siding and other formed building components.

 

5005 and 5052: These alloys are considered when higher strength, improved surface requirements or more demanding fabrication is needed. The final alloy and temper must be matched to the forming process and end-use environment.

 

The alloy should not be selected by product name alone. Bending radius, profile depth, required strength, surface appearance, corrosion environment and downstream processing all affect the correct choice.

PE Coated Aluminum Production Process

 

Step 1 — Base aluminum confirmation: Check the aluminum alloy, temper, thickness, width, surface condition and production tolerance.

 

Step 2 — Cleaning and degreasing: Remove rolling oil, dust and surface contamination that could affect pretreatment or coating adhesion.

 

Step 3 — Surface pretreatment: Apply the specified chemical pretreatment to prepare the aluminum surface and support coating adhesion and corrosion protection.

 

Step 4 — Primer and back-coat application: Apply primer and reverse-side coating according to the selected coating structure and end-use requirement.

 

Step 5 — PE topcoat application: Apply the approved polyester paint with controlled roller-coating equipment.

 

Step 6 — Oven curing: Cure the coating under controlled line conditions so the paint forms a continuous film and bonds correctly to the prepared substrate.

Quality Control

 

Typical inspection items include aluminum alloy and temper, thickness and width, surface cleanliness, color difference, gloss, coating-film thickness, cross-cut adhesion, T-bend performance, pencil hardness, impact resistance, solvent resistance, coil edge, sheet flatness, surface protection, labels and packing.

 

Test names alone do not define an acceptance requirement. Purchase contracts should state the applicable test method, test conditions and pass criteria. Samples or an approved color plate should be retained when appearance consistency is important.

 

Processing, Protection and Export Packing

 

Processing options include slitting, cut-to-length sheeting, brushing, embossing and protective-film application, subject to the selected product specification.

 

Coils are normally protected with moisture-resistant wrapping, edge protection and strong strapping before being secured on export pallets. Sheets can be packed with protective film, interleaving material, waterproof wrapping, corner protection and reinforced pallets.
