Aluminum Checkered Plate

Worthwill manufactures and supplies aluminum checkered plate, also commonly called aluminum checker plate, aluminum tread plate or aluminum diamond plate. The raised pattern provides additional surface traction while retaining the lightweight, corrosion-resistant and workable characteristics of aluminum.

Our main supply form is aluminum checkered plate and sheet, with patterned aluminum coil available for suitable specifications. Common patterns include 5-bar checker plate and diamond plate for industrial flooring, stairs, ramps, transportation equipment, marine applications, toolboxes and architectural uses.

Available alloys include 1050, 1100, 3003, 3105, 5052, 5754, 5083 and 6061 depending on the selected pattern. Standard plate thickness is 1.0–8.0 mm, with widths up to 2200 mm for 5-bar plate.

Pattern, alloy, temper and dimensions should be selected together according to forming requirements, operating environment and end use. Custom specifications can be discussed according to project requirements.

Introduction

Aluminum Checkered Plate for Industrial, Transportation and Flooring Applications

Aluminum checkered plate is a patterned aluminum plate with raised ribs or projections on one side and a relatively flat reverse side. It is also widely known as aluminum checker plate, aluminum tread plate, aluminum floor plate or aluminum diamond plate. The patterned surface increases traction and also gives the material a distinctive industrial appearance.

Compared with plain aluminum sheet, checkered plate is selected where surface grip, low weight, corrosion resistance and easy fabrication are important. Worthwill primarily supplies checkered aluminum in plate and sheet form, while patterned coil can also be supplied for suitable specifications.

5 Bar Aluminum Checkered Plate

Five-bar aluminum checkered plate uses groups of five raised bars arranged repeatedly across the surface. It is one of the most widely used tread patterns for walkways, platforms, stair treads, vehicle floors and other areas where additional surface traction is required.

Worthwill supplies 5-bar aluminum checkered plate in 1050, 1100, 3003, 3105, 5052, 5754, 5083 and 6061 alloys. Available tempers include H114, H22, H24, H14 and O, depending on alloy and specification. Standard thickness is 1.0–8.0 mm, width is 500–2200 mm and plate length is under 6500 mm.

Aluminum Diamond Plate

Aluminum diamond plate uses a repeating raised diamond pattern. In addition to traction, the regular pattern gives the plate a clean, recognizable appearance, making it suitable for industrial equipment, vehicle components, flooring, toolboxes and decorative metalwork.

Worthwill supplies diamond plate in 1050, 3003, 5052 and 6061 alloys. Available tempers include H114, H22, H24, H14, O and T6, depending on alloy. Standard thickness is 1.0–8.0 mm, width is 500–1900 mm and plate length is under 6500 mm.

Aluminum Checkered Plate and Coil Supply

Plate is the main supply form for most flooring, stair, platform, vehicle and fabricated-part applications because it can be cut directly to the required dimensions.

Patterned aluminum coil is also available for suitable production requirements. Coil width, coil dimensions, alloy, temper and pattern availability should be confirmed before quotation because they depend on the required specification and production arrangement.

How to Choose the Aluminum Alloy

The alloy should be selected according to strength, forming requirements, corrosion exposure and the intended fabrication process rather than by pattern alone.

1050 and 1100 aluminum Offer good formability and corrosion resistance and are suitable where high structural strength is not the primary requirement.

3003 and 3105 aluminum Provide a practical balance of formability, corrosion resistance and strength for general industrial, transportation and architectural applications. For more information about this alloy family, see our 3003 mill finish aluminum page.

5052, 5754 and 5083 aluminum provide higher strength and strong corrosion resistance, making them useful for transportation, marine and more demanding service environments. See our 5052 mill finish aluminum page for additional alloy information.

6061 aluminum Particularly where a heat-treated temper such as T6 is specified, is used where higher mechanical strength is required. See our 6061 mill finish aluminum page for more information.

Final alloy and temper selection should be based on the actual load, forming process, welding requirement, exposure environment and applicable project standard.

Common Applications

Aluminum checkered plate is commonly used for:

•Industrial floors, walkways and working platforms

•Stair treads, ramps and access steps

•Truck, trailer, bus and other vehicle flooring

•Vehicle steps, running boards and protective panels

•Marine decks and access areas when a suitable alloy is selected

•Toolboxes, equipment panels and machinery protection

•Architectural and interior decorative metalwork

The raised pattern can improve surface traction, but actual slip performance depends on the pattern geometry, surface condition, contamination, installation and service environment. Projects with specific safety requirements should be evaluated according to the applicable standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is aluminum checker plate the same as aluminum tread plate?

In most commercial purchasing contexts, aluminum checker plate, aluminum checkered plate and aluminum tread plate are used for the same general category of patterned aluminum sheet or plate. Aluminum diamond plate normally refers more specifically to material with a diamond-shaped raised pattern.

What is the maximum width of Worthwill aluminum checkered plate?

For the confirmed specifications on this page, 5-bar aluminum checkered plate is available in widths from 500 to 2200 mm, while diamond plate is available from 500 to 1900 mm. Special specifications should be confirmed before ordering.

Which aluminum alloys are available for checkered plate?

For 5-bar plate, the current range includes 1050, 1100, 3003, 3105, 5052, 5754, 5083 and 6061. Diamond plate is available in 1050, 3003, 5052 and 6061. Actual temper availability depends on the selected alloy and pattern.

Can Worthwill supply aluminum checkered coil?

Yes. Plate and sheet are the main supply forms, but patterned aluminum coil can also be supplied for suitable specifications. Coil dimensions and production feasibility should be confirmed according to the required alloy, temper, width, pattern and quantity.
