Brushed aluminum is a directional surface. The fine parallel lines that give brushed aluminum its characteristic metallic appearance are created by controlled abrasive treatment, and the direction of those lines can noticeably change how a finished panel looks under light.

A drawing that says only “grain direction” may therefore be incomplete.
